This component involves a rapid review of policy issues pertinent to the forest sector and the formulation of a strategic policy framework. Its activities shall help raise awareness by holding multi-stakeholder’s workshops and brainstorming sessions and by preparing papers on forestry related policy and strategic issues, including Joint Forest Management, Trees outside Forests, Green Accounting, Timber Trade and Market, Forest Certification, Private-Public Partnerships, Micro-Finance, Non-Timber Forest Products and Bamboo for livelihood. Specific studies on these and other related subjects will be undertaken. Also about inter-linkages between forest resource assets, sustainable development, alternative livelihoods, land use, climate change, forest law and the latest tribal and forest dwellers act. That should contribute towards a better understanding of the cross-sectoral connotations of policy and strategic framework and lead to an holistic approach towards the sustainable management, conservation and development of the States’s forest resource assets for promoting harmony between the ecosystems, human welfare and pro-poor economic growth.
